This means selecting things such as:
- The starting point
- Overall architecture
- Cloud solution: own premises, private or public? PaaS or SaaS?
- Connection methods
- Security set-up
- Gateway solution
- Sensors as required

Pretty common method with good results is to form a smaller Project for
- defining the needs
- defining the solution and
- selecting the components of solution
